Harry Houdini Secrets Are Finally Being Revealed By Historians
The Chinese Water Torture Cell is a predicament escape made famous by Hungarian-American escape artist HarryHoudini. After travelling for 15 hours to his next show, for what would be his final performance, HarryHoudini had surgery to remove his appendix later that same day (Oct 24th). Upon surgery doctors discovered it had ruptured and he was suffering from peritonitis. Exposing his closely kept professional secrets, and revealing in general terms the whole art of stage magic, this book is now considered the classic study of Houdini's strange deceptions. This Japanese Houdini manga biography was published by Jump Comics in 1991. The book is 260 pages, with the first 183 pages devoted to Houdini and the second half about soccer stars. It looks at magic through the ages and, rather unfairly, deconstructs the idea of Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin as a great originator. Though I can’t help but wonder if it wasn’t some theatre manager who first revealed this secret to the press. The magical world is sawn in half over a US museum exhibit that has let the secret of HarryHoudini’s legendary Metamorphosis escape trick out of the bag. The problem with a lot of history books is many won't speculate even if they are the ones who did the research. I have done this for years over the objections of some and only by being a problem, have I found certain truths that are not in any history books.
